An extensive extended journey around the Land Down Under was terminated days after the tragic passing of an older woman who was stranded by the ship on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a break. The vessel sailed away leaving her and went back later that day after the crew realised the lady was unaccounted for.

An extensive rescue mission located her person the next day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the tragedy, alongside law enforcement and the medical examiner.

Head of the cruise operator announced that guests and crew on the vessel were notified that the rest of the journey had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and prior engine troubles".

In a statement, he mentioned that passengers would be given a full refund, and said the company was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

Authorities also published an latest announcement, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Captain" prohibiting any new passengers from boarding the liner.

The official said that they would attend the ship in the Australian city upon its coming back.

Sequence of Occurrences

The vessel originally sailed from Cairns on October 24th, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the time of the senior passenger's death. The remote island was the initial destination on the journey.

Guests on the vessel - who generally pay tens of thousands of currency to join the expedition - were taken there for a shore visit with the choice of hiking or underwater exploration.

Relatives Statement

The child of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "shocked and saddened that the liner left the location after an organised excursion without my parent".

Through her comments, she characterized her mother as an "energetic octogenarian" who was a participant of a walking group.

"Based on limited facts we have been provided, it appears that there was a lapse of responsibility and common sense," she stated.

She further stated that she hoped the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the organization should have done that might have protected Mum's existence".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a very hot day, and she became unwell on the mountain ascent," she explained.

"Officials suggested her to return, alone. Then the vessel departed, reportedly without doing a passenger count.

"At a certain moment in that process, or soon after, she died, without company."

Organization Reaction

In a statement, the CEO affirmed that the operator was "collaborating extensively with investigators to assist their investigation".

He mentioned that the company was "deeply sorry that this has occurred" and had offered its total backing to the relatives.

Maritime Business Standards

The vessel caters for up to a hundred twenty passengers with forty-six crew, according to company information. It was purpose-built to enter isolated locations of the nation's coastline and is outfitted with "auxiliary vessels" - small boats used to take travelers on shore trips.

Occurrences of this nature are uncommon, and passenger vessels have protocols to track which travelers are embarking or getting off, according to industry experts.
