The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the equivalent scale as sparing holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued from the start of the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future away from worry.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a first responder, was named for the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to open the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and based in heritage that unite the community. Annually, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and cafecito as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
