The Pharaohs Bench Salah as Angola on Brink of Afcon Exit.
Fredy curled a delightful free-kick onto the post as Angola and Egypt played out a draw.
Anfield forward Mohamed Salah and Etihad counterpart Omar Marmoush watched from the bench as Group B winners Egypt played out a stalemate with Angola at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The record winners, having already secured top spot, fielded an entirely changed starting XI and were missing a clinical finish in Agadir.
Angola, who needed a victory to stand a chance of progressing, will now endure an anxious period to see if their two points is sufficient to advance for the knockout stage as one of the highest-ranked third-place teams.
Benin, Sudan and Mozambique are assured of at least third place in their respective groups, all having three points.
Match Key Moments
Winger Fredy rattled the outside of a post for Angola early in the second half, while Egypt's substitute – one of three halftime changes by the Pharaohs – tested goalkeeper Hugo Marques' palms with a shot from inside the box.
Salah and Marmoush had scored earlier in the tournament in victories over Zimbabwe and South Africa, respectively.
Egypt will stay in Agadir to face a third-placed team next Monday, with their next rival to be confirmed after the group stage finishes on Wednesday.
In the other Group B closer, South Africa's victory over Zimbabwe sent Bafana Bafana into the next round, putting Angola on the outside looking in.
Egypt Feel Salah and Marmoush Absence
The Liverpool star observed Egypt fail to score in an Afcon match for the first time since the 2021 final.
With top spot secured, Egypt coach Hossam Hassan might have hoped for a more convincing attacking performance from his second string.
Mostafa Mohamed, who scored four goals at the 2023 finals, created an first-half chance for Hossam Abdelmaguid, but the centre-back looped his header over the target.
Angola, having made multiple rotations themselves, almost went ahead when Chico Banza linked up with Mabululu before dragging a low drive past the post.
The first half passed without a single effort on target, although Fredy caused goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir into action with a powerful long-range attempt.
The Palancas Negras skipper was the likeliest threat, watching a set-piece elude the goalkeeper but crash against the crossbar.
At the other end, Salah Mohsen was left in disbelief after almost prodding in a cross, only for the move to be flagged offside.
Late efforts from M'Bala Nzola and Hamdi Fathy failed to break the deadlock, leaving the match ended goalless.
For Angola, quarter-finalists in 2023, their inconsistent showings in Morocco will raise questions about their mid-tournament coaching decision.
