The Latest Casual Playlist Ignites Heated Debates Regarding Bots, Experience Points, and Wait Times
Recently, the game developers introduced a new playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode mirrors the regular Breakthrough setup but features several key adjustments:
- Each team has just eight real players, with the remaining filled by 32 bots.
- Activities performed by real players award complete experience points, while AI activities offer lower rewards.
- Just a pair of locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State map.
- Elements like Player tags, achievements, and career stat updates have been turned off.
So essentially, the playlist delivers on its title: it's a laid-back take of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think there's nothing wrong, since it gives additional choices for gamers looking for different ways to have fun with the game. However, gaming history have taught us anything, it's that you can't please everyone. In other words, many BF6 fans are upset.
Community Reactions: Anger to Support
"People want human opponents. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," reads a response to the official announcement. "Absolutely shocking concept," comments a different user. Meanwhile, on the Battlefield subreddit, one user remarks, "I have no idea where we are headed with this title," while someone else lists all the issues they consider to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, correct rocket mechanics, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, improve hit detection. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."
However, for every complaint, there are players explaining how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to practice, human participants keep it from being a complete grind but it's very relaxed," says a forum post. "This subreddit fails to see that there are players who have lives and can't play this game 24/7. Let them strike a balance," states a different comment. One reply via social media explains that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is great for me," and someone else praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive."
Valid Criticisms and Community Input
Despite the support, there are constructive reasons to complain about Casual Breakthrough. A few folks have highlighted that it will make wait times more extended for different playlists because of the large amount of options currently available. On a similar note, some areas often face AI-filled matches in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears somewhat counterintuitive that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of human gamers, even though it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents.
Lastly, one of the biggest complaints is that Battlefield Portal was meant to provide complete rewards, even against bots, but that got canned when they attempted to eliminate XP farming from the system. Thus this new playlist seems like the player base compromising halfway, according to a Reddit comment. Another labels this mode as the devs "dropping the ball significantly, I experienced great enjoyment in the first couple of days, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"
Looking Ahead: Will Changes Be Made?
Should the development team has demonstrated something so far with Battlefield 6, it is that they're paying attention and acting on player input. Tasks being too difficult got fixed rapidly, just like the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data shows this new playlist isn't performing to their standards, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
