Vince Zampella, the mind behind the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in Los Angeles, California he was 55 years old.

The tragic news was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, a game studio which he helped establish.

The renowned industry figure died after his car crashed and caught fire on a freeway in LA on Sunday, according to.
