Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
