Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.

Officials stated the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by three individuals, one of whom shot at him before escaping on foot.

The motive of the shooting has not been established and no one has been arrested have taken place, according to authorities.

Law enforcement said that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a location in the vicinity of the city center landmark.

He had devoted time at the property overseeing the installation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, as per local media.

"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," an official report said.

CCTV footage reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and wearing what resembled a security uniform opening fire on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the incident.
